Smothered Shrimp and Grits Ingredients Grits 3-6 lbs Medium to Extra Large peeled and deveined Shrimp Cut up a medium-large Vidalia onion, 4 1/4 halves of green, red, yellow and orange peppers 1-2 teaspoon of oil Cook grits according to packaging Add milk, butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and sugar to taste Gravy preparation Purchase brown gravy and county gravy package as instructed or make homemade gravy to taste; turn down on low and simmer Shrimp preparation 3-6 lbs Medium to Extra Large peeled and deveined Shrimp Seasoning: Old Bay, salt/pepper, or herbs of choice In a large skillet heat oil, shrimp can be sautéed or add flour and fry. Cook until plumped and pink. Set aside. Sauté vegetables until caramelized Place grits in a boil, add shrimp and caramelized onions and peppers as desired pour over gravy
